Raising an Animal for the TISD Project Show

• Why should I raise an animal for the Tomball ISD Project show? Raising an animal is a vital part of a well rounded FFA experience. Raising an animal will take dedication and hard work, but come show time, you will be rewarded not only monetarily but also by developing personal characteristics such as: responsibility, time and money management as well as a great work ethic.

• Do I have to raise an animal for the Tomball ISD Project Show to be a in FFA? No - raising an animal is a choice however, it is encouraged. You may simply join FFA to participate in monthly meetings, attend community service events and compete on LDE/CDE teams. 

• I want to raise an animal for the Tomball ISD Project Show, what do I need to do?First, you MUST be enrolled in at least one Agricultural Science course. Semester courses count for this requirement. Second, pay our FFA dues to join and become an official TMHS FFA Chapter member. Third, you and your parent MUST attend the mandatory payment meeting for the animal of your choice. See calendar for dates, times and locations as all are subject to change. 

• What if I want to raise an animal but do not have the funds to do so? The Hudson Folkerts Memorial Foundation offers scholarships to assist students who need financial assistance to raise an animal. Please see the HFMF website for more information and the application.

• What if I want to raise an animal but I do not have a place to house it? Tomball ISD FFA students have the opportunity to raise their animal project at the Tomball Memorial High School. FFA Project barn for a fee associated with the project being raised. Fee's cover waste removal and maintenance of the facility. The facility is located across the street from Tomball Memorial High School.
