Why should I become a member of the Tomball Memorial FFA Chapter?
Simply put, the Tomball Memorial FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experience, which gives members the tools to achieve real-world success.
Members are future chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers and premier professionals in many career fields. The FFA results in tangible rewards!
Premier Leadership
None of us are born leaders, but the Tomball Memorial FFA can help you become one and help you build a future. FFA members strengthen their public speaking ability, improve their decision-making skills, learn to manage their time, and discover how to respect themselves and gain respect from others. Premier leadership is developed throughout the FFA program – chapter meetings, camps, conventions, leadership conferences/workshops, officer training, and leadership development events.
Personal Growth
The Tomball Memorial FFA provides its members the opportunity to grow personally through such programs as the Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), membership degrees, proficiency awards, agriscience fairs, community service, and scholarships to name a few.
Through the SAE program, FFA members learn skills such as budgeting, communication, responsibility, networking, and resource management. The experience gained puts FFA members way ahead of their classmates when it comes to applying for college or being hired for the job.
And speaking of college, Tomball Memorial FFA members have the opportunity to earn agricultural specific scholarships from such donors such as the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, National FFA Organization, Texas FFA Foundation, and many more.
Career Success
Do you know what you want to do after you finish school? FFA can help you develop the skills you need to get there. Don’t have a clue? FFA can assist you in finding out which of agriculture’s 300 exciting career options match your interests and skills.
For students who ask their teachers, “When will I ever use this in the real world?” Career Development Events (CDE's) are the answer. The events are designed to help prepare members for a career in agriculture. Classroom instruction comes alive as members demonstrate their skills in a competitive setting. The FFA offers so many opportunities for competition at the chapter, district, area, state and national levels, you can hardly avoid being a winner!
"I'm convinced! Now, how do I go about becoming a member?"
First, you MUST be enrolled in at least one Agriculture Science Course. Semester courses will meet this requirement.
Second, pay your FFA dues to join and become an official TMHS FFA member.
Members have the opportunity to participate in monthly meetings, attend community service events, participate in Leadership/Career/Speaking Events and raise livestock for the TISD Project Show.
